Authentic Gore & Splatter Soundscapes
Dive into the grisly world of TONSTURM Gore & Slaughter, a sound effects library designed to satisfy the needs of the most demanding horror and gore enthusiasts. We meticulously researched and selected real pig blood, seafood, and mammal guts to create a wide range of convincing and detailed splatter sound effects that surpass the limitations of breaking vegetables.
A testament to the splatter genre
We wanted to create a true testament to the gore and splatter genre.
Theres a need for rich, convincing and detailed sounding splatter sfx that play with a wide range of carefully chosen organic textures.
So we worked with real pig blood, specific seafood and mammal guts.
We also accompanied a professional and licensed hunter during the procedure of deer skinning.
These selected animal foods allowed us to record and perform the most horrifying sound effects that to our knowledge are not reproducible with breaking vegetables.
The Seafood
Cracking the lobster shell uncovers creepy bone break sounds. King crab shells excel at creating splintering and cracking effects, as well as delivering impactful, clattery foley movements. Octopus is perfect for its fleshy, slimy, and slithery characteristics. Additionally, the seafood can be enjoyed in the form of a delicious fish soup 🙂
Guts / Entrails
The guts were sourced from an animal food butchery, offering a surprisingly diverse consistency. They provide a wide range of sounds to explore. For instance, a lung produces a flappy and hollow sound, while a liver feels and sounds wet and slobbery. Ripping the guts apart creates fleshy sounds that layer well with bone cracking and breaking effects.
Skinning / Bone Breaking
To create an authentic splatter library, we recognized the necessity of including recordings of deer skinning. Thus, we joined forces with a professional licensed hunter. Witnessing and recording the process of deer skinning was a first-time experience for us. Additionally, we had the opportunity to record real bone breaks and cutting sounds.
Pig Blood
We obtained a substantial amount of pig blood, both fresh and dried. The dried pig blood allowed us to adjust the thickness to achieve the desired consistency. We enthusiastically spilled and splattered approximately 80 liters of pig blood across a wide range of surfaces, including wood, metal, plastic, glass, concrete, grass, puddles, leather and even our own naked bodies…
