This library features all the sounds you need to design scenes of carnage and mutilation: splattering and spilling blood, bone breaks, flesh ripping, skinning, slithering-slimy textures and corps bursting cracks.
With this library we wanted to create a true  testament to the gore and splatter genre. We felt there was a need for rich, convincing and detailed sounding splatter sfx that play with a wide range of carefully chosen organic textures. We did a lot of research and found out that we wanted to work with real pig blood, specific seafood and mammal guts. We also accompanied a professional and licensed hunter during the procedure of deer skinning. These selected animal foods allowed us to record and perform the most horrifying sound effects that to our knowledge are not reproducible with breaking vegetables.

About the different organic materials:

The Seafood: Cracking the shell of a lobster with the flesh underneath produces some creepy bone break sound effects. The shells of the enormous king crabs are ideal for performing various splintering and cracking effects. They also deliver massive and rich sounding, clattery foley movements and impact effects. Octopus is ideal for its fleshy, slimy and slithery quality. Last but not least one can enjoy parts of the seafood cooked in form of a tasty fish soup.

Guts / Entrails: The guts were from an animal food butchery. The consistency of the different entrails is surprisingly diverse. It is possible to perform a lot off different sounds with them. A lung for example sounds flappy and hollow, whereas a liver feels and sounds wet and slobbery. Ripping the guts apart gives some nice fleshy sounds that layer well to bone cracking and breaking sound effects.

Skinning / Bone Breaking: We have heard some recordings of deer skinning and knew that if you want to create a true splatter library there is no way around it. So we accompanied a professional licensed hunter during this process. We planned with him the optimal arrangements for ideal sound recording circumstances. For the first time in our lives we saw and recorded how a deer was skinned. Further we had the chance to record some real bone breaks and cutting here as well. Pig Blood:
Lot's of it! We ordered fresh and dried pig blood. With the dried pig blood you are able to control the thickness of the final consistency. We spilled and splattered about 80 liters of it against every thinkable surface in the field and in the studio: wood, metal, plastic, glass, concrete, grass, puddles and leather. We did not shy away to record splatting pig blood on our own naked body. This was a once in a lifetime experience for sure!

Recording:
Everything was recorded in 192kHz, with the Sennheiser 8040, 8050 high frequency range mics from Sennheiser. Splatter sound effects are especially interesting for pitching down, some unheard cracking and splattering is yet to be discovered. Again we used our Cinela / Sennheiser LCR rig for most of the recordings. If you buy the LCR version of the library you have access to splatter and gore sound effects that instantly fill the full LCR front. In contrast we also recorded some parts of the studio sessions with a additional Neumann U87 microphone. It was placed a little more distant and smoothed out the transients in a pleasant way.
